Women in a flagship apparel store discover an amulet that grants its users the power to bring non-living objects to life. A large "flawless red corundum" (otherwise known as a ruby), Lilith's Amulet would be a treasured item even if it weren't an enchanted gem. Woven in silver wire and clasped to a silver chain, the Amulet is mysteriously delivered in the hands of a young woman at her job managing a clothing store. With the power to imbue nonliving material with a will of it's own ranging from ambient to power-hungry, Lilith's amulet feeds on the energies of inhibited passion and mischievousness and manifests these forces as impulses in the surrounding environment. Arguably one of the most powerful artifacts, and the first of the artifacts to cause a mass impact with its effects.

Taylor double-checked the invoice. 47 cases. "Everything's here, Suzie." Taylor eyed the small box with no label and tossed it to her coworker. "But this is number forty-eight." Suzie turned over the box to see a single hand-written line on the back of the package: Ms. Claire Roland, c/o Sensible Chic.
"Tay, did you see this? It's addressed to Claire." Taylor nodded.
"You and I were the only ones back here today other than the delivery guy," said Taylor. "He's kind of cute, but he's engaged. I've seen the ring." Taylor took the box back from Suzie and looked closely at the writing. "It's really formal handwriting. I don't know about it, though...we would have seen someone else come through the back, right?" Susan nodded at her. "Then unless the girls up front are playing around or something, it has to be him. Maybe he's a two-timer. Maybe we shouldn't let Claire find this until we know what's going on."

A dreamy female voice echoed into the light. Four so far, mistress. They all seem apprehensive of my gift but one, the black-haired. She's bolder than the others. Lilith paused for a moment as the elder's response came into her mind. Lilith continued her report. Well, it hasn't been long. All four seem stable enough for now. Have any other of the artifacts been activated? Another response resonated into Lilith, this one more chiding. Forgive me mistress. I trust your plan.

"So we're going to leave the mall for later," Sunny said to the five women around the table. "We need to try something small first. We'll go the outlet strip after all the stores close. We'll be concealed by the costumes pretty well, but I'm pretty sure alarms are going to go off when we open the doors. Each one of us will get a shop, hit everything, and move on." Taylor started laughing.
"What's going to happen?" Susan asked, "I mean, after the alarms go off and stuff, what do you think the cops will do about it?" "I have a feeling things are going to get crazy," Sunny responded. "And once they find out what they're dealing with, there'll be more of them. That's why we have to be quick. They might run away. They might just start firing their weapons into the clothes. I don't know." Sunny sighed. "At any rate, each store shouldn't take us much longer than 2 minutes. If each of us hit three, that's most of the outlet center. Between the shelves and the stock, that should be a good start."

"I need to requisition two officers, Mayor Fosgate." Wessel said. "Doesn't matter where they're from. Munie, Sherriff, Trooper--wherever you think you can afford to lose the manpower."
"Agent Wessel, you know I'll do my best to help, but can I ask--off the record--what you're planning to do?" Wessel shook his head.
"No, Mayor, you can't." The Mayor frowned. "But if we were speaking figuratively, the officers I need would be ones who could keep cool in an extremely adverse situation." The Mayor nodded his head.

Face-to-face with her now--no hovering, no restraints, no pithy banter--Wessel felt he had to do something, shake her hand, kiss it--something. He was smiling at her. Um--thank you," he heard Elliot say behind him. As Wessel turned around, he saw Elliot placed on the ground as the clothing carrying him fell back into a lined formation. When Alison hovered in after a few seconds, they were all present--seven super-powered women, a federal agent, an Ilian detective, and Rob and Elliot along for the ride.
